Overview
A personal emulator for the W65C02 processor, started in February 2022. It supports assembly instructions with behavior modeled on the physical processor.
The problem
Understanding a processor means implementing one. Datasheets describe behavior, but only an emulator shows whether the description holds together across the full instruction set.
What I built
- Implemented the instruction set with assembly support in C++.
- Modeled behavior on the physical processor.
Impact
- A working emulator that runs 65C02 assembly the way the chip does.
